Brandywine Valley Restaurant Reviews
There are many great restaurants in the Brandywine Valley encompassing the Kennett Square, West Chester and Chadds Ford, PA areas south to Wilmington, Delaware. Below are some of our favorites.
Wilmington, Delaware
Harry's Seafood Grille
If you want an upscale place for lunch, cocktails or dinner, Harry's in The Riverfront Market area on the water is a good choice. The menu is oriented toward seafood, with a sushi / oyster bar alongside the dining room and bar area. We had fish and chips for lunch - an excellent choice. The fish is fresh, lightly battered, tender and flaky - a big step up from many other restaurants, which serve fish that is usually over-fried and greasy. The atmosphere is casual, but elegant - with a huge 30-foot golden starfish hanging from the ceiling next to sculptures of sting rays and schools of fish. During the warmer months, Harry's also offers outdoor seating by the waterfront. We recommend the restaurant for a casual lunch or classy dinner selection.
The Hotel duPont
For 5-Star elegance and superb food, nothing comes close to matching the Hotel duPont's Green Room, with wonderful picture windows overlooking Rodney Square. The atmosphere is late 19th century with crystal chandeliers hanging from elaborately carved wood-paneled ceilings. The menu is varied with steaks, seafood and fowl which is perfectly presented. Service is superb - what you would expect from a place which is world renowned. We highly recommend the restaurant for dinner whether you are catching a show at the Grand Opera House afterward or enjoying a special night.
